I remember Pickles Nightspot! That was a cool club. I remember Bartenders Johnny Rotten and Don, and Ted on the door! Those were the days.

Gee Willikers was a hot club! Great DJs, dance club atmosphere and party all night! We watched filming from across the street.

Flux, formerly Gee Willikers, was no dump. Perhaps as ifs days were numbered by the land and building owners to oust the club it did lose momentum. However had you been around in the eighties to early nineties and not home asleep, every player and the hottest babes as well as the most popular bartenders could be found there. Especially from two to four in the morning. Even the other club owners would be there. You would have had to live it to understand.

Hey Jimmy... just saw this post... Let's get together sometime to discuss the old days... I am sure we could trade stories as you seem to know much about the area 20 years ago...

  • Kendall Green, Sid Meyer (guest) wrote 10 years ago:
The area to the East of Leisureville is NOT Kendall Green. I know, I lived on NE 2nd Terrace for 20 years. It is Pompano Estates. There was an entrance "wall" with that name on it at the intersection of NE 27th Street and Dixie Highway, which is where our bus stop was. That entrance marker was destroyed when the made changes in the roads. Kendall Green is marked correctly south of Vera Villa. Between Pompano Estates and Vera Villas was Colonial Homes. The area marked Pompano Estates (Protecta) was referred to as Pompano Highlands.

With all due respect "Flix" nightclub was a dump and was closing. This was why they used the building for the film. One of the most popular nightclubs was "Pickles Night Spot" right next store. The cast would come in and party after filming almost every night.
  • Striptease (film) , Ron Cerasuolo (guest) wrote 11 years ago:
The movie "Striptease" was filmed at FLIX Nightclub in Pompano Beach. FLIX was the hottest nightclub in all of Broward County back when the film was made in 1996. FLIX was never a strip club... FLIX was however, the Nightclub/Restaurant that became the inspiration for theme restaurant chain, Planet Hollywood, which is how Demi Moore and Producers came to discover FLIX for the main location for the film. I was in City Beverage yesterday 2-2-12 & also on 2-1-12 and witnessed your district sales manager making a total fool of himself by berating the owner of that business in front of customers and everybody . I frequent that business and am responsible for probally half the Amstel Light that gets sold there . I will not buy any product you distribute again as long as that sales manager is in your employ. His name , I believe , is Jim Thorpe or something like that the regular salesmans name is Andy.I found Mr Thorpe to be rude abusive and would be apalled if he was the best I could do as a representative of my business.
